Dr. Youngha Ryu obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from Pohang University of Science & Technology in Korea and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University. After his postdoctoral research at the Scripps Research Institute, he joined the faculty of TCU in 2007.
The research interests of Dr. Ryu lie in the areas of biochemistry, chemical biology, and bioorganic and medicinal chemistry. Specifically, his research group is currently studying the mechanism of bacterial protein modification and secretion for possible applications in biotechnology. New riboswitch-binding molecules are also being developed as potential antibacterial agents.
